Control Resonant Sells 1 Million Copies in 3 Weeks, Remedy’s Fastest Launch Ever

Remedy Entertainment announced today that Control Resonant has sold 1 million copies in just three weeks. That makes it the fastest-selling game in the studio’s history, which is a big milestone for a company known for stylish, strange, story-driven games.

A quick recap of the game

Control Resonant launched on September 24 as the sequel to Control. This time the story follows Dylan, Jesse Faden’s brother. The action moves out into New York City, with a bigger focus on melee combat while keeping Remedy’s reality-bending storytelling. We covered the launch day when it arrived alongside Silent Hill: Townfall.

Why this number matters

One million copies in three weeks is a strong result for a premium, single-player-focused game in a very crowded October. It suggests the game has found an audience beyond longtime Remedy fans, and it’s a good sign for the studio’s future projects.

Critics have been positive

Reviewers have backed up the sales. This Week in Videogames gave it a “Strongly Recommended” rating, and the studio released a hotfix on launch day to address early feedback on the console and PC versions.

A note for PC players

PC Gamer reported that Control Resonant still looks impressive on lower graphics presets. For anyone running an older graphics card, that’s good news. With GPU prices still high this year, you may be able to enjoy the game without a costly upgrade.

Before you start a long session

Story-heavy action games invite long play sessions, and that’s when hardware problems show up. If your console is loud or overheating, your controller is drifting, or your gaming PC is freezing or running hot, it’s worth sorting out before you’re deep into the game.

Bottom line: Control Resonant’s sales milestone shows that story-driven, single-player games can still find a big audience. If you’re picking it up, make sure your hardware is ready for the long haul.
